How to remove chewing gum from clothes

In laundry terms, chewing gum is public enemy number one. The key is to loosen it’s grip before gently easing it off. Imagine you’re trying to get a toddler to let go of a toy – it’s a bit like that.

How? Here are some ideas:

1) Rub the gum with ice to harden it then use a spoon to lever it off
2) Melt the chewing gum with heat, e.g a hairdryer, and peel it away from the surface
3) Use your iron. Put a piece of clean cardboard on the surface of your ironing board. Place the garment gum-side down on top. Set the iron to medium and iron the garment. Once the gum has softened it should stick to the cardboard allowing you to gently peel your garment away leaving the gum behind.

And the final tip to taking care of your clothes?

Wash your garment as normal and hang out to dry on your LineMan!
